Parkinson's Clothing
Parkinson's Clothing
MagnaReady was founded because of Parkinson's disease, and our adaptive clothing for Parkinson's remains at the heart of everything we make. When founder Maura Horton saw her husband struggle with buttons after his Parkinson's diagnosis, she invented magnetic closure clothing that lets people dress independently and with dignity.
Our Parkinson's clothing collection features magnetic closure dress shirts, flannel shirts, adaptive pants, sweaters, and outerwear, all designed specifically for the fine motor challenges that come with Parkinson's disease. No more fumbling with buttons or fighting with zippers. Just smooth, hidden magnets that snap together with a simple touch, even with hand tremors or finger stiffness. Our patented closures are strong enough to stay fastened all day yet easy enough to open one-handed.
Whether you're living with Parkinson's yourself or caring for someone who is, MagnaReady's adaptive Parkinson's clothing gives back the independence that dressing should never take away. All pieces are machine washable, stylish enough for any occasion, and eligible for FSA/HSA reimbursement. Explore our full collection of magnetic closure shirts, pants, and outerwear below.
The Daily Dressing Challenge with Parkinson's
Getting dressed is something most people take for granted. But for the roughly one million Americans living with Parkinson's disease, it can be one of the most frustrating parts of the day. Parkinson's affects the basal ganglia, which controls fine motor movements. That means the small, precise finger motions needed to push a button through a buttonhole or pull up a zipper become progressively harder over time.
Tremors make it difficult to hold a button steady. Rigidity in the hands and fingers makes gripping small objects painful. Bradykinesia, the slowness of movement that characterizes Parkinson's, means that what used to take 30 seconds can take 10 minutes or longer. For many people, the loss of ability to dress themselves is one of the most emotionally difficult aspects of the disease. It is not just about clothing. It is about autonomy. How MagnaReady Helps
Our magnetic closures are specifically engineered for the motor challenges of Parkinson's. The magnets are powerful enough that even with tremors, bringing the two sides of a shirt close together causes them to snap into alignment automatically. There is no precision required. No fine motor control needed. The wearer (or caregiver) simply brings the fabric near the center line of the body and the magnets find each other.
The same technology applies to our adaptive pants, where the magnetic fly replaces the traditional button-and-zipper combination. And our magnetic-front sweaters and jackets eliminate the struggle of zippers entirely.
What Our Parkinson's Customers Tell Us
We hear from Parkinson's patients and their families every day. The most common thing they say is that MagnaReady gave them back something they thought they had lost: the ability to get dressed on their own. Spouses tell us that the morning routine went from 20 minutes of frustration to 5 minutes of ease. Adult children tell us they bought MagnaReady for a parent and watched them smile for the first time in months while getting dressed.
Styles in This Collection
